Netra Tarpana is one of the specialized treatment for various eye disorders. It acts as both preventive and curative therapy for maintaining the normal healthy condition of eyes. Netra Tarpana is a specially prepared luke warm medicated ghee or oil is retained over the eye socket inside a well created using black gram paste or whole wheat flour.

Netra Tarpan in Ahmedabad: Ayurvedic eye therapy

Netra Tarpan is a soothing Ayurvedic therapy in which medicated ghee is pooled over the open eyes inside a ring made of black gram dough. It nourishes the eyes and the surrounding muscles and nerves.

Procedure

You lie down, and dough rings are placed around the eyes. Warm liquefied Triphala Ghrita or another medicated ghee is poured in until the eyelashes are covered. You open and close your eyes slowly for 15–20 minutes. The ghee is then drained and the eyes are cleaned and warmed gently.

Course

Usually 3 to 7 sessions, which can be repeated as advised.

Precautions

Not done in acute eye infections, conjunctivitis, soon after eye surgery or in acute redness. Continue regular check-ups with your ophthalmologist.
